Fresh from the Farm Genovese basil, lemon basil, Thai basil, parsley, French Tarragon, mint, oregano and more! Each playing a role in the creation of delicious varieties of pesto. Can you taste the goodness?!? Please join Kathy Yearwood, farmer/owner of Darnell School Farm, for a hands on class where you, along with your class mates, will prepare several different types of pesto and pair each with pasta and an assortment of fresh vegetables. This class will explore a wide array of fresh herbs and garlic grown locally along with an assortment of seasonal vegetables. Never made pesto before or a pesto aficionado? This class is designed for both as our goal is to learn what herbs we like and have fun in the kitchen. And you might just find you like a new herb and/or vegetable you haven’t tried. Herbs to be used in the class will vary based on seasonality and what is available for harvest on the Farm. More questions before you sign up, reach out to Kathy anytime on her Farm’s Facebook page @darnellschoolfarm. Tentative dishes: Mixed Herb Pesto with pasta and/or skillet potatoes; Thai Pesto served with sautéed carrots, sautéed zucchini and fresh tomatoes; and Lemon Basil and Swiss Pesto served with rice pilaf and fresh tomatoes.
